Professional Activities

Research Interests

I am willing to tutor mentor students in the following areas.

Areas I am actively involved in:

  • Planar Antenna Design
  • Microwave Circuitry
  • Ultrasonic Mapping
  • Instrument Design
  • Artificial Intelligence for Circuit Synthesis

Professional Interests

I am an I.T. graduate specializing in Communications and Computer Engineering, graduated in 2000 and further graduating with a P.hD. in 2014. Both my thesis were on antenna modelling and design . My doctoral thesis was on the rapid analysis of pixel patch antennas, the title being A Planar Circuit Model for the analysis of Pixel Antennas‘. My graduate thesis was on Switched beam antenna design, Theory and Experiment, My areas of specialization are :

  • Antenna Design
  • Radio Engineering
  • Analog and Digital hardware design (from Transistor to FPGA)
  • Microcontrollers and embedded systems
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
  • Telephony

My work experience includes

  • Lecturing at MCAST and the University of Malta
  • Curriculum Design and Development
  • Electronics in automotive technology, especially the area of Electromagnetic Compatibility
  • LAN’s
  • WAN over ADSL
  • Design and Maintenance of community radio stations
  • Design, Construction and Maintenance of Outside Broadcast units for radio stations

Apart from my professional work I maintain a pro-am electronics workshop at home which is fully prepared to test equipment up to 200MHz. Why do I describe myself as a pro-am? I do not have the resources to invest in a fully fledged laboratory but I believe that electronics constructors can build semi-professional equipment that is very good for circuit design and testing.
